Malia's Holiday Concert
Today was the holiday concert at Malia's school and the third graders sang two songs!

Busy Weekend!
This weekend we had lots of fun things planned! On Friday night Malia went to a surprise party for her ballet teacher. She and all her dance friends had a great time dancing and playing dance games! She woke up a little sore the next day and wondered why...uh, could it be dancing non-stop for three hours after two hours of dance class?
On Saturday Malia had dance rehearsal all day and then that night we went to see Seussical that a friend of ours had choreographed. It was fun to go out as a family and see a show!
On Sunday morning we went to a friends Temple and participated in a Family Hanukkah activity breakfast. Malia had a great time with her friends Sammie and Dinah. It was a lovely thing to do with friends!
That afternoon we went and saw a friend her dance studo perform in her school's production of the Nutcracker. Liv did a great job!
Then on Monday, Malia received an award as Student of the Month for her classroom for her academic achievements! Good job Malia!

Disneyland
Yestserday we went to Disneyland to have some fun and check out the Christmas decorations! Aside from it being a little bit cold--it was a great day to be there!

Thanksgiving and Stuff!
It has been a busy busy few weeks!
Last week Malia found out that she was cast as a special part in her ballet school's end of the year production which is a big honor for her and very exciting!
Yesterday was Thanksgiving and we had a great day doing nothing but eating, sleeping and relaxing! On the menu was turkey, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, caesar salad, biscuits, marshmellow salad, cranberry, stuffing, and gravy! Yummy! For dessert there was homemade apple and pumpkin pie, plus homemade vanilla and mint chip ice cream!
Last week Malia found out that she was cast as a special part in her ballet school's end of the year production which is a big honor for her and very exciting!Also last week Mara filmed a GE commercial on the Paramount Lot (although Brad wasn't working that day!). It was a scene where she was playing a woman in Ancient China.

Nuvo Dance Competition and Convention
This weekend was Malia's first dance competition and convention. She performed one solo and three group pieces. All of the dances won gold medals and she also got a scholarship for being outstanding in ballet class! It was a great weekend and Malia and all her friends had a great time getting to run around the Hyatt Resort! On Halloween, they had a pizza party and then spent the night swimming in the pool! How they had the energy after 10 hours of dancing is a mystery!

Halloween at School
Malia's school does a costume parade for Halloween which is nice because Malia won't be trick or treating this year! Malia decided to go as a gypsy queen because it was a little warmer than going as a pop star!

Halloween-Sort Of
Malia won't be able to go trick or treating this year because of her dance convention-so we didn't buy her a costume. So when she was invited to a costume party we had to improvise! Fortunately she has lots of sparkly dance costumes that worked perfectly for her "movie star" costume!

Papa Visits Malia
Papa came to visit Malia this weekend! 2 trips to the American Girl store!!! Plus, Papa taught Malia how to play Jacks. Pidu is also always excited to see Papa!

Malia Gets to be a Zombie!
Malia booked a voiceover job for a videogame coming out this Christmas. Here's a picture of her in the recording booth. She's screaming because her character has to get away from zombies! She also got to record some secondary tracks to be one of the zombies!

First Day of Third Grade!
Today is Malia's first day of Third Grade! She was very excited and nervous to find out who her new teacher is going to be and which of her friends she is going to be in class with. Fortunately she got a great teacher and is in a class with a lot of her friends that she has never been in class with before! What a great year this is going to be!

Yesterdy a friend of Malia's had a pre-school party! Even though it was a bit smoky out, everyone had a great time! It was really fun for Malia to see some of her school friends, and swimming was perfect on a such a hot day!

Weekend Activities
Last weekend was a busy weekend for Malia! On Friday she sang at a gala reception for Cabrillo Music Theatre. On Saturday she had her Snow White Show and on Sunday we went and saw our friends Shane and Ryan in a production of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat! After the show we headed to a dance show that several of her friends were performing in.

Lexicon "Time Freeze" Commercial
Last night Malia did a shoot for national spanish language commercial for an insurance broker, Seguros Sin Barreras. It was a long night, but it's the first time Malia got to have fake blood put on her, and she'll get to see what it's like to shoot something and see what the end result looks like after special effects are added. There will eventually be fire, maybe rain, and sparks added from the saw that is cutting them out of their crashed car! Here's more pics:

Taste of Summer
Well, we're well into summer by now, but things have been so busy that it's only now that we're starting to feel summer-ish! We had a very quiet 4th of July...but it's been nice to just enjoy some slow time! One of the things we've been trying to do each week is go to the farmer's market. Now that it's hot out, Malia counts on getting a nice cold snow cone! (This past week she opted to also get some face painting by the crazy face paint lady...)

Busy Weekend!
This has been a crazy busy weekend! Yesterday Malia had her ballet show. Her class (level 2) played the lost children in Peter Pan. They spent most of the time goofing off backstage! But they did a great job on stage!
Brad Graduated from UCLA's Anderson School! Hurrah! Three years of hard work and he graduates with honors! So proud of Brad!
On Friday Malia had her school Vaudeville Shows! She did a great job with all of her classmates!

Brad's Honor Society Dinner
Last night Brad and Mara went out on a rare evening without Malia to go to a dinner at UCLA celebrating his being a new member of Anderson's Honor Society! Hurrah Brad! Only two weeks tuntil graduation!

Mojo Walking
Today we decided that it would be fun if Mojo could come on walks with us... He always follows us about halfway down the block and then meows and meows because he's being left behind. So we harnassed him up and tried to take him out... he didn't seem nearly as enthusiastic about it as we did. But we'll keep trying!!!

Colfax Square Dance
Last night Malia's school had a square dance for families. It was very fun! They had a trio playing and a professional square dance caller who told everyone what to do! Everyone had a great time!
